Time well spent

We were in the car for about an hour and a half. Karla was driving as Luke, Dwight, Samantha, and I were riding along talking, playing with animal crackers, watching videos on Dwight's iPhone, and "racing" a wood chipper. We discussed the Evangelism training we were heading to and what to expect, church backgrounds, theology on vegetarianism as well as creation vs. evolution, plans and ideas for our IV chapter, and weird family stories. We didn't just mention these things. We extensively talked about each one.

So you may be asking...ok? Why all this detail? Well...I only mention all of these so you can grow a better appreciation for what I am about to say. Everything I just mentioned all happened in a distance of the car moving 1 mile. Yes...1 mile. We were a mere 4 miles from our destination when we hit the construction that brought our 65 mph cruising to a 0-1 mph halt. Even though we left with plenty of time to be early for training we ended up being 1 1/2 hr. late. This may sound stressful, but if you look again at our conversations and what we did, it was actually quite nice.

The training (what we were there for) was very good, both for the students as well as a reminder for myself. The passion the staff teaching exuded for evangelism was refreshing and motivating to go out and talk to people.

The car ride up, training, and the ride back (which was significantly shorter) made the day of travel worth it! By the time we crossed into Morgantown, I felt like we had bonded beyond a staff/student relationship, but as friends. I think good things are about to happen with our chapter that came from our conversations in the car, and I am anticipating the stories I get to share with you.
