We are now in the advent season in the church calendar; a time of anticipation and expectation of the Messiah we know as Jesus. It is also a season of celebration on campus here at WVU.
There have been several great things happening this semester in ministry, and I am ashamed I have not shared them sooner than now.
I had shared before our Large Group numbers have more than doubled this year! We have consistently had between 50-70 students join us for "Encounter" each week. Not only have they been involved in this weekly meeting, but more than 30 have been committing to attend small groups throughout the week. In these groups, students not only study scripture, but also create healthy community, outreaching to peers, and being active in the morgantown community.
There are 7 prayer meetings happening every day from mon-fri, where at least 25 students attend in seeking out Jesus.
We now have a Graduate small group study, caring and ministering to 7-12 grad students weekly, an area of ministry we have been praying for and not able to tap into until recently. We are also reaching out to black students on campus, and giving them a place of security and spiritual growth. There are also opportunities to begin a faculty ministry (again, another un-reached but desired area for us) that we are praying about and have the beginnings of good connections.
15 students have come to know Jesus and now living noticeably transformed lives this semester, and we have around 30 students committed to our core group as leaders, and up and coming leaders.
I am astounded by God's workings this semester, and have never seen his spirit move and students walking in obedience so greatly as this year!
