This past weekend was our annual fall conference "Harvest", which is held at the Pittsburgh Project in Pittsburgh, PA. A good way to describe why we do Harvest is explaining that this conference is more so a spiritual formation retreat. This year we focused on Spiritual disciplines. Jerry King came to speak nightly from Deut. 6,

and helping students see that these "laws" are a way of God saying I love you, and desire that you love me.
There were also seminars students chose to go to, where
they learned about sabbath keeping, discernment, evangelism, and racial reconciliation. A worship team from Virginia made a trek up to Pa to lead us in some amazing multi-ethnic worship, and helped lead students into God's throne room. We also had an opportunity to spend two hours in a retreat of silence, and take that time to be with Jesus...alone, just the two of us.
Overall this was a great weekend, where many people learned how and did connect to Jesus an new and great ways. One student commented how he realized that God wanted him to be praying for his friends salvation, and that he needed to be more involved with what IV is doing at WVU, so he could learn how to love and care for his friends more. Another student said that he had reconnected with God for the 1st time in years, and never knew he could have a relationship like what he had experienced at Harvest.
What great testimonies to how God showed himself last weekend! And those are only 2 stories. There are many many more similar heartfelt responses to God.
One thing I was fortunate to be a part of was the creative team.
**WVU and Fairmont State students and staff**
As staff, we all have jobs at harvest, whether it's sound, worship, or leading a seminar. My job was the overall creative...person. Which meant I was to formulate a team, design the atmosphere to go with our theme "Larger than Life", and provide any video clips or dramas the speaker may like to enhance his talk. It was a great privileged that I am now able to use my creative giftings to serve God, IV, and students in this way. Hopefully I will have a good video of one of our dramas to share soon. :)
