Pasta and Salvation

This has been a pretty typical week in the life of a fully funding focused staffer. God has brought a couple opportunities to share in some churches about the work at WVU, and I've gotten a few new donors! YAY! I am slowly but surely making my way back to campus :)

Lately I've been getting the question..."so what does a typical day look for you?". Usually there is no "typical" day, and my schedule is often bouncy and different week by week, but right now, I'm just fund raising. most people give sympathy looks when I share that and try to console me in my misfortunes. At which, I understand and appreciate the sentiment. However, It's in times like these that I really have the lens to see God's faithfulness and provision. I have gotten encouragement from people I barely know, students sending me letters of hilarity and genuine "we miss you" notes, new donors, and even personal needs being met from unlikely places. (One of which was a boat load of pasta noodles and sauce ^_^ Mmmmmm) It is hard work, and can be discouraging, but when kept in line of what God is doing and saying, it is a great spiritual growing time for all parties involved!

The students have been doing a great job "running the IV show" in my absence. I am thankful that there are very mature and well equipped leaders, who are all about God and IV's vision, to keep things moving in the direction we felt God was leading us. It's also great that they are not alone. My supervisor, Jesse, has been discipling 3 key leaders, who have the respect of the rest of the chapter. It's been good for them as they take more steps in becoming Godly and effect leaders.

On another note...I have recently started leading worship for the middle school class of my churches school. It has been a lot of fun seeing them engage in worship and be excited about Jesus and reaching out to people. Granted it is at 8:15am, so there are some sleepy faces, but generally it's been fantastic. This week our associate pastor Sean Wightman came for chapel to speak. He talked on Luke 15 and God's heart for the lost in this world. It was a great talk to which 2 students, during the response time, raised their hands to truly except Jesus for the 1st time.

It is exciting to see God moving and shaking the culture not only on the college campus, but every...even in middle schoolers :)
