Fun in a lecture hall?

The past few weeks have been full of planning, and sickness.

2 weeks ago 2 of 3 of my leadership team and I were very ill all week, leaving poor Brian to be the brains of our meeting while fighting off our sicknesses. Fortunately he has not gotten sick. Praise God that all three of us have nearly recouped 100%, aside from Mikaela's voice that is still rather hoarse.

Aside from being sick, we have had some good meetings go on. We are planning for 2 major events coming up (one is this friday (overnighter) and the other is at the end of oct. (Harvest)

In light of these things I must admit that one of my favorite parts of the past couple weeks was after Large Group. The Pitt chapter has been difficult to join together in fellowship. It feels like after the Large Group is over, everyone is done and wants to just leave. Granted we get out late (10pm or so) and it is a tuesday night, but we are trying to encourage them to hang out even for a little while. Last week we had a great speaker come and talk about stewardship. Once IV was over, we got out some scrabble pieces and started playing speed scrabble. Almost everyone stayed after and joined us. We had a great time of playing scrabble, talking, and eating dessert.

This was the first time the chapter has shown an interest in wanting to hang out with each other. It was encouraging to see this, as last year an event left a scar on those who remain, and has made it difficult to reform the group. As the chapter bonds and grows closer together, I know that outreach and ministry will be made much easier because they'll want to do it. Please pray that this type of community will continue to grow in this group and that we make it a point to form relationships.
